XCMG XCA1600 All-terrain Crane makes a record-breaking first hoist

Publication Date: 2022-05-06

Hebei Baoxiang wind farm, in an area of only 200 square meters of space, XCMG XCA1600 all-terrain crane successfully lifted the largest diameter 141 m impeller and installed in place at a height of 140 meters! After setting a new record for the world's highest wind turbine installation by an all-terrain crane, another lifting extravaganza.

The assembled impeller, together with the spreader, weighed nearly 90 tonnes, and it took only 40 minutes to successfully dock the impeller to the nacelle, and one and a half hours to tighten all 80 bolts into place. The entire slewing and vertical lifting process perfectly overcame the wind transients, demonstrating the XCA1600's strong micro-motion and excellent precision. Excluding the waiting time for high winds, the effective installation time for the first turbine was only 3 days, an increase of nearly two times in efficiency compared to the original.

XCA1600 is the world's first wheeled crane capable of 140m height wind turbine installation, but also the shortest time ever, to complete the 140m 2.5MW wind turbine installation crane. This is the first breakthrough in the history of the global wheeled cranes, XCA1600 in 158 m height rated lifting weight of up to 110 tons, the backbone of the Chinese equipment manufacturing industry.

At 10:18am on 6 May, more than 80 wind power crane customers and media across China witnessed the XCA1600's first crane results, which caused a huge response in the whole industry.

Over the past period of time, China's wind power industry has developed just as fast as the wind. In particular, in recent years, China has been the world's number one country in terms of new wind power installations for many years, making it the world's number one wind power country. Wind power has overtaken nuclear power, becoming the third largest power source in China after thermal power and hydropower.

The total investment in wind power construction during the "13th Five-Year Plan" period has reached more than 700 billion yuan. It can be said that wind power is an industry with unlimited prospects.

But the ambitious prospects also conceal many challenges. Information shows that China's onshore wind power resource-rich areas, geological and climatic challenges are often quite large; in such an environment, even in Europe, North America has a wealth of experience in the construction of foreign brands of lifting equipment, but also repeatedly in China's wind farms hit a wall - product shape, structure, height, precision does not meet the needs of China's problems, has been difficult to The problem of product shape, structure, height and precision not meeting Chinese needs has been difficult to solve.

Wind and born to meet the difficulties, is the pursuit of XCMG lifting machinery has never changed; and in the development and manufacture of special equipment for wind power installation, this scene again. The introduction of the 1600-ton all-terrain crane, not only completely solved the problems in the installation of large wind turbines in China, but also with a truly superior, truly leading the world's technology, so that China's cranes again to make a name for themselves.

The rapid development of China's wind power industry has led to a steep acceleration in demand. From plains to mountains, from high altitudes to low wind speeds, the "absolute height" of wind power installations in China is constantly increasing. 120m wind turbines have become mainstream, while the application of 140m wind turbines is also gaining speed.

In order to better meet the market demand, "wind up" wind turbine type all-terrain cranes, ounce on the scene. Although different brands of all-terrain cranes for wind power are called "thousand-ton" - but in fact, XCMG this thousand-ton class is not a competitor to the thousand-ton class.

Why say so?
As a wind power all-terrain crane XCMG 1600 all-terrain equipment, its upgrade is not only reflected in the tonnage, but also in the "lightweight", "full coverage of wind power conditions", "intelligent" and other core barriers.

What is Lightweight? Globally, the XCMG 1600-tonne crane is the smallest, yet the largest lifting weight and most powerful all-terrain crane.

For example, the XCMG 1600-tonne all-terrain crane can support 93 tonnes net weight with only 9 axles, and its 21.5-metre-long body makes it much smaller than other 1,000-tonne cranes with 12 axles, which greatly improves its performance both on the road and through narrow areas. More importantly, the "lightness" does not affect the "lifting capacity" of the 1600 all-terrain crane, in about 4-6 wind, the 1600 crane lifting nearly 100 tons of wind turbines for installation, the error will not exceed 5 mm.

What is the full coverage of wind power working conditions? The length of the 7-section main boom of XCMG 1600-ton all-terrain crane reaches 92.4 metres, the length of the tower boom reaches 48-102 metres and the length of the wind power boom reaches 27.5-51.5 metres; when extended to a height of 140 metres, it can easily complete the lifting of a 95-ton nacelle.

What is intelligence? This is even more surprising. In the shape of a 1600 product "crane", there is in fact an extremely complex and efficient "brain" hidden underneath. Not only can it find the most suitable construction plan for the current working conditions from the tens of thousands of stored working conditions, but it can also ensure that even if it lifts a hundred tons of heavy objects, it will not deviate from its original position due to the inevitable physical deformation of the boom - and these rely on powerful control software.

Obviously, a variety of near-extreme performance, so that XCMG cranes in the global market, with the absolute leader's posture and strength, standing tall.

The special nature of the wind power installation industry is that its competitiveness is more reflected in efficiency, construction quality, rather than price.

In this regard, XCMG 1600 all-terrain crane, there are many highlights.

In short, eight of the nine axles of the 1600 all-terrain crane are drive axles, and with the use of hydraulic plus mechanical dual power, the climbing capacity reaches 30% - while the climbing capacity of the average family car is about 20%. In this way, for the 1600 all-terrain crane, which is often driven in mountainous areas and hills, it can basically cope with most construction scenarios without any auxiliary equipment.

In addition, there is another point that is very different from other thousand-tonne all-ground equipment. Despite carrying a huge lifting boom, tower boom, wind power boom, but XCMG 1600 products in the transfer, wind power boom can be automatically folded, without disassembly, greatly reducing the working time. An example can illustrate the huge changes it has brought - 10 months time, with the 1600 type out of the same door XCMG 1200 type all-terrain crane, completed the lifting of 100 wind turbines, an average of 2 days to install one; and similar competing products, at most half the number of wind turbine lifting; thus it can be seen that the 1600 type crane in the installation of wind turbine speed and efficiency of the "unique".

Such efficiency, not only in the field of wind power in China, in the global industry is also unprecedented. Obviously, in XCMG wind power with all-terrestrial cranes to promote the field of wind power installation in China, "fast era", "fast mode" is opening.

Over the years, XCMG not only in the research and development of equipment, manufacturing full strength; in addition, XCMG also from the wind power installation solutions, seeking breakthroughs. In view of the geographical division of wind farms, installation construction methods and the development trend of the industry, XCMG penetrated into large wind farms in China, conducted research on wind turbine manufacturing equipment of Goldwind Technology, Vision Energy and China CNR, systematically analysed the technical parameters of wind turbine products of mainstream wind turbine manufacturers at home and abroad, collected the construction methods and construction standards of each wind turbine lifting, and formed a work method analysis covering 1.5-3.0MW mainstream wind turbines. Database.

In the product and method solutions go hand in hand, XCMG lifting machinery is not only leaving its rivals further behind, but also in China and the global wind power installation and construction field, ushering in a "windfall".
